Suggestions for a blog?

I wasn't sure where to post this.
I really think I should start a blog, or try again, as all my previous attempts have been abandoned for various reasons.
I am looking for something easily usable with screen readers, honestly I don't have much patience with complicated technology. Somewhere I can post not only writings, but possibly also pics, audio and videos.
Yeah, there's facebook, and I have that. But... It's not the same thing. I would like to have my own blog to try and freely express myself.
Help and suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks

hmm, I don't quite know. I want to do that too and share my weird stories
with the world. I was gonna say on here but, it's a mess. There is one I think
it's blogpress.com. I think, gotta check. but, yeah, not sure.

I'd like an answer, too, if anyone has suggestions. Just for text and maybe pics. Something that works with Jaws.

Someone suggested me blogspot. I will make an attempt.

I think it'd work but I will ask Anthony. he knows everything. not devilish Anthony, the one that goes by tony.

Okay, this thread inspired a search that distracted me from things I should have been doing, and so here are some ideas.

The following lists some options.
http://mashable.com/2014/05/09/16-minimalist-blogging-platforms/#K90Rj3cXT5qJ

From this list, I've found that Postagon is simple, and works really well! It costs $4 a month, but they give a free trial, which I played with, successfully, using Jaws and Windows 7. I'll stick with this, but out of curiosity, will try a few others.

The others I mean to test are PostHaven, and Calepin.

Pen.io looks promising, but has a Captcha. Maybe some of us can contact them, and point out the obstacle, and ask for a workaround.

(Scriptogram, in this list, has been discontinued.

Jekyll looked interesting, but seemed a bit complicated and over my head, once I went to their page and read about it.

Have fun!

Well thanks I'll take a look to these.

Hey, have you heard of wordpress? It's really accessible :) Blogger not so much - I prefer WP, and the community on there's really great. I've got a blog so if you need any tips, message me :)

Thanks, GrayWaves. I may do that.

I also looked into PostHaven today, and it looks completely accessible, but isn't free. $5 a month.

wordpress is accessible now? I remember having really annoying issues with it back a while ago, but eh, might have been over a year. I'll check it out again. Thanks

yayyy, might check out word press.

Even if it's accessible, there are so many options that it can be too overwhelming for some. For me, anyway, so personally, I'd stick to PostHaven or Postagon.

Several blind friends of mine have blogs on WordPress, so I'm assuming it's accessible. I tried to mess with it a few months ago, but like someone else said, there were so many options it got overwhelming. I may try again at some point. If I do ttry to blog again, I'd start with WordPress, if for no other reason than that I have blind friends who use it, so maybe they could give me pointers.

Having too many options put in front of me sends me into total confusion generally, so I just have to calm down, concentrate on one at a time and learn like that I guess. I know a lot of people have blogs on there so it must be good.
I created mine but as always, the block I have with writing came back, so I haven't published anything, yet.
There's also an iPhone app, I wonder how good that is.

All this talk of WordPress and BlogSpot being accessible, and I don't find that to be the case at all. However
http://wwww.dreamwidth.org
is totally accessible and easy to use for people who are blind, not to mention that it's free. For those who have used LiveJournal before, it's quite similar to that platform, minus the graphics or whatever it is that would often cause LJ to be sluggish. You can choose to have a public blog, create an access list where only people you give permission to can read it, and you can also create a totally private Dreamwidth account that only you can read.
Hope that helps; if I can be of any more help, let me know.

Thanks for adding this, Chelsea! It's not one I knew of, or that came up in my search.

I never heard of that one and though I've already created my wordpress blog a few days ago and it's working quite alright for me, I'll give it a look.
Still talking of wordpress, though, is there a way to make it so that your posts don't all appear on the home page, but only the links to them? I don't like it this way, it's too cluttery.

Yeah I think so! :) There's an option to have a summary, but you can have a separate page for your posts. The app's quite accessible :)

I'll have to find it then. Couldn't find it in the settings. The app is alright, yes.
